“Israel-Lobby” könnte das Unwort des Jahres werden. Früher waren es das “Weltjudentum” und das “Finanzkapital”, später die “Ostküste”, jetzt ist es die “Israel-Lobby”. Das Wort muss nur gehaucht werden, und schon ist klar, wer und was gemeint ist: der unverhältnismäßige Einfluss der “Zionisten”, vulgo: Juden, auf die Politik der USA. Vom iranischen Präsidenten, der wie eine Kopie von Alfred E. Neuman auftritt, bis zum letzten Rentner an der Ruhr, der den Dativ vom Genitiv nicht unterscheiden kann - mit Hilfe der “Israel-Lobby” wird aus jedem Dummbatz ein Experte, er muss das Wort nur an der richtigen Stelle anbringen. Ohne sich dabei dem Verdacht auszusetzen, ein Antisemit zu sein. Dass es noch andere Interessengruppen gibt, interessiert ihn nicht, so wie es ihn nicht interessiert, was im Sudan, in Zimbabwe, Nordkorea oder Burma passiert, denn für den fortschrittlichen Sesselpupser kommt zuerst “Palästina”, dann kommt eine Weile nix, und dann kommt die “Israel-Lobby”.

And what the Israel lobby does is what all ethnic lobbies — Greek, Armenian, Latvian, Irish, Cuban, and others — do in this democracy. It is a natural outgrowth of the melting pot that makes this country what it is and helps to provide us with a bridge to our origins.
What everyone has missed is that all these ethnic lobbies have been built from the bottom up, with but a single exception, a sinister lobby that works from the top down: the American lobby for Saudi Arabia. =
