Mein absolutes Lieblingsmagazin in den USA ist Weekly World News. WWN gibt es nicht bei Barnes & Noble, wo es praktisch alle Magazine gibt, die in den USA erscheinen, sondern bei Safeway an der Kasse. Jeder Einkauf bei Safeway wird mit einem Exemplar von WWN gekroent. WWN druckt nur Exklusiv-Geschichten: Elvis lebt - als Bibelverkaeufer in Texas: die Titanic ist nicht untergegangen, sie wurde entfuehrt; Hitler hat den Krieg ueberlebt -  in einem Kibbutz in Galilaea. Die besten Geschichten, an die ich mich erinnern kann, waren ueber eine Riesenheuschrecke, die Traktor fahren kann und ueber Hilary Clinton, die von einem Ausserirdischen geschwaengert wurde: “Hilary Clinton’s Alien Baby”. Leider gibt es in Deutschland kein vergleichbares Magazin. Aber es gibt die “Arbeiterfotografie”, und die ist auch nicht schlecht. Eine Art “Stuermer” fuer...

Peace In Our Time?
Resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict would be a wonderful thing. But the reality is that for more than a half century, every American president has attempted to find a magic formula that would bring peace to the tiny territories between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River. And every American president has seen his efforts come a cropper.
In the long run, keep hope alive. But at this moment, given the current Palestinian leadership and the support it receives from Tehran, the chance of resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict is as low as it’s ever been.

Diesen Montag erinnert Amerika mit dem “Martin Luther King Day” an den schwarzen Politiker, Prediger und Buergerrechtler Martin Luther King jr., der am 15. Januar 1929 geboren und am 4. April 1968 ermordet wurde. Seit 2ooo ist der MLKD ein offizieller Feiertag in allen 5o Bundesstaaten der USA. In Utah wird er als Human Rights Day begangen, in Arizona und New Hampshire als Civil Rights Day.

Ein guter Anlass daran zu erinnern, was MLK jr. vor vierzig Jahren in einem “Brief an einen antizionistischen Freund” ueber Antisemitismus und Antizionismus geschrieben hat: Antizionismus ist Antisemitismus, basta!
